Creating the Hosts File for Windows XP, Win2k, Windows Me,

1. Go to: start > Run – type: command - Click OK button
2. For
Windows 98 & ME users type: edit C:\windows\hosts
(XP users type: edit C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)
(Windows2k users type: C:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts)
3. Press
Enter and you should get a new window like this…
(Oops, no picture.) Arrow to the bottom of the page.
4. Then
type: 127.0.0.1 advertising.paltalk.com
(make sure you hit the space bar 4 times after the 1 before the a)
5. Then
press Alt + F key to save as Hosts
(If at any time when you save this file, if it says: file exist do you want
to over-write, say: yes)
6. Then Press the Alt + F key to Exit.
7. At the DOS prompt type: exit - and hit Enter to return to Windows.
8. Close PalTalk and restart it.
9. If this
works, you will get 1 Pop-up when you log on and 1 Pop-up when you Log off.
Banners in rooms will read Action Canceled and Page Can not be Displayed.
